Swimming Gala – April 2011

On Wednesday 5th April St. James’ Swimming Team went to the Tunbridge Wells Swimming Gala at St. Johns Sports Centre. In the first race was Emily, she did 25m front crawl, and while she raced, the divers - Elliott and Jessica - practiced. Emily finished third. The next race was George in the 25m front crawl and he also finished third. The girls and boys 50m open race came next. In the first heat was Charlotte; she came first and went through to the finals. Alice was in the next heat and she also came first, so also went through to the final.
In the diving competition Jessica and Elliott were both amazing, but unfortunately only Jessica got through to the next round with a high score of 8½.
Next it was the girls 25m relay; we were fantastic and won the shield for the third year in a row!
Then it was back to the 50m open final. Charlotte and Alice both swam, Charlotte finished first for the third year running and Alice finished second, which was really good as she had never swam that race before. In the boys 50m open, Anthony finished third.
Overall we finished joint second and retained four of the trophies won last year.

Thank you to everyone who supported us and well done to Connie and Olivia who swam for another school who were short of swimmers!

A big thank you to Simon Killick for coaching and supporting us.

Swimming Squad; Charlotte, Alice, Chantelle, Olivia, Issy, Jessica, Emily, Connie, Gemma. Ben, Anthony, Torin, Elliott, Zak, Matthew, Elliott J & George.

Last Saturday Simon, Max and I went to Gillingham for the second part of the Kent Swimming Gala.

I was the first to swim, 50m breaststroke, but unfortunately I didn’t qualify. Sadly Max and Simon didn’t qualify either, but the good thing for them was that they both had personal best times.

Thank you, to Mrs Waller for organising us and to Mr Killick for supporting us.
