The Pirates of the Curry Bean – Year 6 Panto 2019
The children have been amazing this week - performing their Year 6 Panto: The Pirates of the Curry Bean!
With wonderful singing, entertaining lines, delightful dancing and amazing acting, the Year 6's have wowed their audiences for five performances across the week. We've laughed, cried and shouted Argh! in our best pirate voices.
The Year 6 staff would like to say a huge well done to everyone involved - whether they've contributed as actors, dancers, ensemble, back-stage, lighting or sound. You've all worked incredibly hard and we are proud of each and every one of you!
We would like to thank all parents for their wonderful support and contributions towards the play; all the costumes provided have brought our play to life! We have really appreciated it and hope this show, shows off how wonderful, enthusiastic and energetic our classes are.

Donated by the Little Family when their children left the school, this shield is awarded to a pupil from each class in year 5 at the end of each year. The award was presented by Miss Johnson to Elliot, currently in 5S, for his kindness, friendship and for being a great talk partner. Bethan, currently in 5Y, for being compassionate, kind and someone who goes out of their way to help others and Jack, currently in 5W, for his kind heart, getting on with everyone and always being kind and thoughtful. Congratulations to all the winners who had big smiles and were delighted to receive their award. They will each get to keep the shield for a term over the next year.

Sports Day 2019 - Wednesday 3rd July
Beautiful sunny morning, everyone headed up onto the field and playground to take part in the 12 activities set up: bowling, netball, hockey, obstacle course, over & under, shot putt, javelin, 5 strides, penalty shootout, bean bag throw, golf and speed bounce. Teams were made up of each year group and in the school teams, Calverley, Dunorlan, Grove and Hilbert. Extra points were scored for great sportsmanship. At the end of the morning, everyone had a picnic with staff and parents ahead of the track events in the afternoon.

After a picnic lunch, with parents joining pupils on the field, the track events took place. The sun continued to shine as parents eagerly lined the track to cheer on the competators. The bean bag and hoop started the afternoon off, followed by the skipping races, obstacle, hurdles and egg & spoon races. Sadly, due to lack of time, the toddlers, Mums, Dads & staff races did not take place. The final races were the relays, which were very exciting. Once all the races had taken place, the pupils all gathered together to hear the final scores. Mr Tutt announced Hilbert were the winners of the Sportsmanship trophy and Grove won the Track & Field Trophy; the result was greeted by cheers and applause. Trophies will be presented in Celebrations Assembly.
